The Routine I Never Questioned

For years, coloring my hair was just part of my routine. Covering grays felt automatic — like something I was supposed to do without question.

But after chasing dye appointments for so long, I realized I was ready for something more.

I wanted freedom.
I wanted to finally see who I was without the dye.

What Made Me Finally Pause

Choosing to go gray naturally wasn’t an overnight decision. It came from a slow mix of curiosity, exhaustion, and deep reflection.

After my last salon visit in October 2024, I went on vacation to Puerto Rico — and ended up getting COVID.

With no energy to keep up my usual hair routine, I paused. And in that pause, something shifted: maybe I didn’t want to keep up with it at all.

The Moment I Let the Dye Go

That was the moment I chose to stop coloring my hair. No more dye. No more root touch-ups. No more chasing the illusion of “youthful” hair.

And as my gray roots began to grow in, something surprising happened.

What I Found Instead of “Old”

I didn’t feel older.
I felt lighter. More me.

There was something refreshing — almost liberating — about seeing my natural hair color for the first time in years. What I found wasn’t just gray hair… it was a deeper version of myself.
